→ハグリッドが魔法を使ったことを内緒にしてほしいとハリーにお願いする場面。今現在の仮定なので、時制を１つ戻して過去形に。

★Whew, amazing, can you imagine the look on old McGonagall's face if we were late?

(Harry Potter Ep1 / Ron)

→ロンとハリーが授業に遅刻し、まだ先生が教室に来ていないと思い込みロンが言う台詞。これも今現在の仮定なので、時制を１つ戻して過去形に。

★Maybe if I were to transfigure Mr. Potter and yourself into a pocket watch, maybe one of you would be on time.

(Harry Potter Ep1/ McGonagall)

→前の例文の直後のシーンで、マクゴナガル先生が現れて言う台詞。were toで「仮に〜なら」となり、ありそうもないことについての仮定を表します。
