【8th week 12/08/17 – 18/08/17】

One year ago, I saw a movie on Instagram which showed part of “Edinburgh Festival” and I thought I really want to go there. Last weekend, I finally made it!

From Bournemouth to Edinburgh, it took six hours by coach and train. I had to take a train from King’s Cross Station which was used in “Harry Potter.” When I was child, I was crazy about Harry Potter and I also had a soundtrack of the film. While I was on the train I was listening the soundtrack, and felt like I could go to Hogwarts on this train! On the way, I saw beautiful buildings, a sea coast, and thousands of sheep.

The festival and city of Edinburgh are so amazing that I regret taking just 2day trip. Seeing shows and street performances reminds me this quote; “Life is too short to hide your feelings. Don’t be afraid to express what you feel.”

By a strange coincidence, I saw “Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo,” which is an annual series of military parade performed by British Armed Forces and military bands on the Edinburgh Castle. The performance was fascinating, and what made me more excited was that there was a Japanese military as well in this year’s parade. They played a song by Joe Hisaishi which made me so emotional, especially because I’m in another country. I’m so proud of them and hope many people visiting Tattoo will feel something.

During this trip, I met some nice friends who travel to Edinburgh as well. I hope they will enjoy the rest of their stay in the UK.

Sadly, some of my lovely friends left England and went back home. I miss them already...stay in touch, and see you again!

ちょうど１年前インスタグラムで、全世界から色んなパフォーマーが集まるお祭り「エディンバラフェスティバル」を映した動画を見て、絶対行こうと思った場所に、先週末行ってきました。

今住んでるボーンマスからスコットランドのエディンバラまでは高速バスと電車で片道６時間くらい。電車はロンドンのキングズクロス駅から乗ることに。小さい頃ハリーポッター大好きでサントラまで持ってて、そのサントラ聞きながらキングズクロス駅を出発してると、もうこのままホグワーツに行っちゃうんじゃないかと思いました。笑　道中、きれいな建物や海岸、そして大量の羊たちがいました🐑🐑🐑

お祭りは本当に面白くて、パフォーマーさんたちのユーモアに感動。音楽のショーや大道芸を見てると、「人生短いんだから自分の感じたこと恥ずかしがらずに表現せないかんなぁ」と思いました。

そして、運良く毎年このお祭りで開催される「ミリタリータトゥー」という、伝統衣装を着たスコットランド軍楽隊と兵士のパレードを見ることができました。やっぱりこのケルト音楽の感じ好きだなぁ。そしてびっくりしたのは今年のお祭りは日本の陸上自衛隊の音楽隊も参加してたこと。異国で聞く久石譲さんの曲がこんなに染みるとは…。他の国の人が日本のパフォーマンスを見て色々感じてくれたら嬉しいなぁ。

旅の中で、同じようにエディンバラにやってきている人と友達になりました。彼らの残りの旅が素敵なものになりますように！

そして今週末何人かの友達が帰国。また会おう、必ず！

★ “Bye!”：こっちに来たばかりのころ、またねって言うときに “See ya!”って言っていたけど、あんまりみんながSee yaを使わないことに気づく。代わりによく言ってるのがこの “Bye!”、もしくは"Bye bye"(ババイ)！日本のバイバイに近い！笑

★ “Cheers!”：アメリカ英語だと「乾杯」のイメージだけれどイギリスではカジュアルな感じで至る所で使ってる様子。「おっす」「じゃあな」「サンキュ」「お疲れ〜」「またな」的な感じかと。

★ “Have a lovely day!”：ホストマザーから「niceはあまり言わないわね〜」と言われて知りました。代わりにlovelyやgoodを使ってる様子。どちらでも通じるけど笑！

私は9と3/4番線でなく3番線から、、、

パフォーマンスを見ることができました。

異国で聞くジョーヒサイシに感動して泣いてしまって

隣の家族に心配されました。笑
