【4th week 15/07/17 – 21/07/17 】

Four weeks have passed since I came here. This week, very sad things had happened; some of my friends had left school and gone back home. I wrote letters to them and then I realized; I have to improve my English for this kind of time. I really wanted to express in detail of my feelings towards them. I promised my friends to improve my English and I’m sure to meet them again.

Also, the big event of this week was seeing the musical, “Phantom of the Opera.” I’ve never seen it in Japan, but my Japanese friend, who is studying Drama at university, told me this was the best, so my friend and I decided to see it. The musical was sooooooo amazing! We sat near to the stage, and we could see everything the actor’s expression. What a sound! The live performance was really nice, I was exactly grabbed my heart. I would love to see this with my family and friends in Japan as well.

The other day, we had “Music Night” as a school event. Our teachers and students sang together, also each country’s students got together and sang their country’s songs. The Japanese team sang “Ueomuite Arukou” sung by Kyu Sakamoto. This song is known as “Sukiyaki Song” in UK, so the teachers already knew this song. I truly realized the power of music. That was a very emotional time. I will practice the English version of this song.

こちらに来て４週間が経ちました。今週はすごく悲しいことが。仲の良い友達の何人かが帰国するという…。その子たちにお手紙を書いてるときに、「こうやって自分の想いをぴったりくる言葉で表すために、定型文だけじゃなくて色んな表現を増やしたい」と思いました。友達たちに、「次会ったときはもっとSpeakingの腕をあげるからね！」と約束した。必ず会いに行くよー！

もう一つ今週大きかったことは、「オペラ座の怪人」のミュージカルを見たこと。日本の劇団四季でも見たことはなくて、こちらの日本人の友達で大学で演劇を学んでる子が「オペラ座良いですよ！」と紹介してくれたので友達と見に行くことに。もう、本っっ当に良かった。前から６列目くらいで、演者さんの表情がしっかり見えて、それに加え生演奏だからもう心鷲掴みにされました。日本にいる家族や友達たちとも一緒に見たいなぁとすごく思いました。お金と相談しつつ、他のレミゼやウィキッドも見たいと思います。

さらに先日、学校のイベントで「Music Night」というのがあって、先生と生徒で歌ったり、各国の生徒が国ごとに自国の歌を歌ったりしました。日本チームは坂本九さんの「上を向いて歩こう」を歌いました（渋！）。どうやらこちらでも「スキヤキソング」として知られてるみたいで、先生たちも一緒に歌ってくれました。日本語だけど、みんな聞いてくれて、何かが伝わってたら嬉しいな〜と思いながら歌いました。英語バージョンもあるらしいから覚えようと思います。

★(形)easy-going：「のんきな・のんびりとした」。先生含め西欧のみんなはこれはpositiveな意味だと。でも日本語ではどちらかというとnegativeよりな気が。面白い！

★(形)self-confident：「自信のある」。必要です、自信。。！

★(形)manipulative：「巧みに扱う・操作的な」。今週も色んな形容詞が登場。

★(名)arson：「放火」。commit arsonの形で登場。

★(動)stalk：「忍び寄る・そっと追う」。犯罪単語シリーズの中で登場。日本のストーカー事件の話をしたら引かれました…。

*(名)hatred：「憎しみ」

*(動)redeem：「補う・回復する・救う」
